EVIS 101 - Art Projects
Throughout my EVIS 101 experience I was able to explore my creativity ability in composing a few art piece in this class. Making these pieces was something that I found really fun and a different way of expressing myself in a unique way. I enjoyed this class so much and had lots of fun. With that being said, I wanted to share a few of my assignments!
Beyond What I can see
“This abstract art piece represents the past and present of my backyard. The contrasting elements display variations of patterns and colours to signify the development of this once untouched land into the transition of present day. With my sacred place being my backyard, I wanted to express the growth and change that has happened over time. To illustrate this, in the middle of my piece I painted the number 38 to symbolize the location of my place. The importance of this place is signified by the detailed drawn patterns that represent growth, beauty and change as well as the transformations that were made in the past. The textured coloured spots symbolize the past and present. The past represents agriculture and architecture and the present symbolizes nature and growth. On the top and bottom of my piece I have shaded a warm prairie sunset to signify that in the past and present we share the same sunsets and the beauty of Saskatchewan prairies. In contrast, the bottom sunset represents the untouched land. I painted black silhouettes of TeePee into the landscape to represent Indigenous people living on this sacred land. The top half, I painted the black house silhouettes to signify the present day of living in my community. To complete the piece on the right side, I painted two trees. The trees symbolize my message of the growth and change within my sacred place. My piece was not really inspired by a particular artist, but I wanted to do an abstract piece so I could incorporate zentangle drawings. The materials I used in my piece was a thick and thin sharpe, black/white acrylic paint, oil pastels, pencil crayon, conte, lino block stamp and painters tape.”
Weekly Blog Compostion
Throughout EVIS 101 I made a weekly blog involving things that I have noticed before. In the blog I describe what I noticed about it and what the significances of it now means to me. At the end of semester the last assignment was to make a composition that influenced the weekly blog posts
